2001 Ducati 996R DM1

$18,039.42

 Product Description

Ducati 996R

One of the rarest of all the 916/998’s is the 996R. Only 500 Testastretta-powered 996Rs were built by Ducati at the beginning of 2001, with the sole purpose of meeting homologation requirements for the 2001 WSB Championship. All 350 customer versions sold-out within 6hrs of the launch; the other 150 bikes were held back by the factory for special allocation i.e., the Troy Bayliss & Ben Bostrom specials, as well as development and promotional use, only 40 made it Down Under.

This bike is not in Australia, but its history is well known and we will undergo the necessary compliance for local registration if required. The bike has had only 2 owners from new and was originally delivered into the UK. The current owner acquired the bike in 08 and both owners maintained the bike in perfect condition. All factory service receipts and owner’s manual are available.

The bike has done only 2,000k’s since 08 and 31,640 in total. In 09 it received a full service, plus new belts and new clutch. It is sold with the factory garage stand, and bike cover. Damage amounts to some very minor chips on the lower fairings and the forward corners of the foam seat are fatiguing like all the R models due to the leather being too tight. Other than that it’s immaculate.

The 996R was the last of the 916/996 models, Ducati’s first ever R model, and their first 998 Testastretta model, and already high on the collector list.
