1990 Ducati 851 Strada
The 851 was Ducati’s successor to their air-cooled two-valve Supersport. Massimo Bordi had actually designed a 4V Desmo in 1973, but struggling under state ownership there was no funding to development the concept. All that changed after new investment and passion from Cagiva allowed Bordi and Ducati to make massive technological advances which in-turn led to the now famous liquid cooled four-valve desmodromic engine. Under the Cagiva name, 1985 saw Bordi’s concept make production as the Desmoquattro. Based on the Pantah motor, liquid cooling, fuel injection, and desmodromic four valve heads, the 851 made Ducati once again competitive in the world of motorcycle racing.
This particular example is in beautiful condition albeit with a few minor enhancements. Travelled only 15,478k’s, this bike has remained in a small collection inside the owner’s living room. The bike will be serviced and made ready for registration pending sale.
