1985 Kawasaki Z1100R ELR- SOLD
The Kawasaki Z1100R Eddie Lawson Replica was little more than a paint job, but the changes turned around the models lacklustre sales, and today the ELR is a must-have collectible for any 80’s Jap sports bike enthusiast.
The long, coffin-esque tank, Gurney-flap styled tailpiece, and sporty cockpit fairing came from the GPz1100, as did instruments, brakes, wheels, and its Dunlop K300s. Changes amounted to a deep-dish seat, further positioned rear-set footpegs and controls, an oil cooler, a black Kerker 4-into-1 (which, by law, had to be installed by the dealer), and race inspired handlebar designed by Lawson himself. It was an impressive piece, visually and technically, with strong, near-GPz performance, reliability, and more than its share of chutzpah that took riders back to the famous Z-1.
