1983 Honda Motocompo
The Honda Motocompo if a unique folding scooter produced between 1981 and 1983. Originally designed and introduced as a "Boot Bike" to fit inside Honda’s range of hatch-backs (Civic, City, Today), the Motocompo was marketed in conjunction with the City’s television ads featuring British ska/2-tone band Madness. The Honda City’s luggage, or hatch area, was actually developed around the Compo.
Possibly the first Transformer, the Motocompo’s handlebars, seat, and foot-pegs fold into the scooter's rectangular plastic body to present a clean, box-shaped package of 1185 mm L × 240 mm W x 540 mm H. Despite a production of 53,369 Motocompo’s by the end of production in 1983, very few have survived the test of time.
Today the Motocompo holds almost cult status, with many celebrities and members of the ‘cool elite’ owning what little numbers have survived. This particular example is unrestored and in excellent OEM condition. Presently located at Raidermoto.com Coffs Harbour, NSW Australia.
