Like the previous 3C, the Jota used a three-cylinder, double overhead-camshaft engine, but its power was significantly increased with high-lift racing cams, three 32 mm Dell'Orto carburettors, a close-ratio gearbox and a modified exhaust system.
Laverda was already recognised as one of the fastest bikes of the era, and the Jota became even faster. In a straight line the Jota was capable of almost 225kph and clocked the quarter mile in around 12 seconds, rivalling and beating many of the Japanese machines that were commanding high-speed bragging rights at the time. However, unlike the Jap rockets a Jota actually handled and stopped. With low set racing style handlebars and a rearward narrow seat to allow the rider to wrap himself around the sleek 20lt fuel tank. On the road the Jota has all the manners of a thoroughbred, and the acceleration of a dragster.
As the pictures show this bike is an ideal restoration project, and priced accordingly. It has matching numbers and currently located in our German facility the advertised price excludes shipping & arrival charges. Price has been converted to AUD and therefore subject to exchange rate fluctuation.
