1972 Kawasaki 750 H2

Generally known as the Mach IV, the H2 was a scaled-up version of Kawaski’s first smoker superbike, the 500cc H1.  While design of the piston-port triple was similar, everything was stronger in the H2. The 750’s port timing was also milder to create a broader torque curve. With a compression ratio of 7:1 and three Mikuni VM30SC carburettors the 71 x 63 mm two-stroke produced 74 horsepower at 6800 rpm.

This may not sound much today, but back in the early 1970s most 750s barely made 60 horsepower and the closest to the H2 was the vastly heavier Honda CB750 with 67 horsepower. While the crank and port timing made for smoother running, the H2 was an extremely thirsty beast, soon earning a reputation as being ‘petrol-cooled’.  (commentry credited to Ian Falloon)

This amazingly original 1972 750 H2  was delivered new in Pennsylvania and retained by the first owner until 9 May 2016, when it was purchased by the current owner and shipped to Japan where it has sat on display.  In 2016 the Pennsylvania Title shows only 3,612 miles use from new, and since then only circa 800 miles have been added. The front blinker mount has the typical H2 vibration crack, but a good un-cracked replacement is included with the sale, as is the original Pennsylvania Title.
