1994 916 “First Batch”
Described as the “World’s most sexy motorcycle”, the first production run of these beautiful machines amounted to only 1,451 units world-wide, and all were built at Cagiva’s Varese plant, identified by a ‘V’ as the 11th character in the 916’s VIN. A very small number of the earliest production, referred to as “first batch” featured an unusual assembly detail: the fairing panels and windscreen were secured using solid rivets and spring clips rather than the Torx screws and well‑nut system used on later bikes. This configuration was quickly abandoned due to durability issues, and many early bikes were subsequently retrofitted by dealers, making original survivors especially scarce.
In collector terms, these rivet-fastened 916’s represent the very first iteration of one of Ducati’s most iconic superbikes, making them notably rare and highly desirable, particularly when their original fasteners are still intact.
This “First Batch” example has travelled only 2,113m & was purchased from the original owner. Scanned copies of original invoice, accessories and other documents, original tool kit & owner’s handbook included. Retained in beautiful condition the bike was prepared & sealed for long-term storage. .
