Honda invented the words ‘quality’ and ‘reliable’, and the 2009 Fireblade was, at its release, a machine against which the Superbike competition was judged when it came to build-quality. More than a decade later the 2009 CBR1000RR still looks contemporary thanks to its build quality and lush paint finish.

Whilst it doesn’t produce the heady power of its modern 1000cc rivals, the 09 engine made 163hp, but it was smooth and solid power and its torque made for searing acceleration to its top speed of circa 290kph! This is still regarded as one of the all-time great engines.

This particular example is here with us at Raidermoto HQ in Coffs Harbour Australia. As the photos indicate this has been a well cared for bike and been enhanced with a few high-end performance accessories by US racing supplier, Taylormade Racing. Taylormade specialise in MotoGP inspired accessories; this bike has received their race exhaust and belly-pan (circa $2,000) and Fender Eliminator & seat cowl (circa $600).
