In 1973 Ducati released the 750 Sport as forerunner to the now famous 750 Supersport (aka greenframe). Available in one colour only, a unique shade that is as much orange as yellow, the Sport was essentially a production racer with its solo seat and simple single headlamp. For those that could afford one, the Sport was the ultimate "street racer" of the time; clip-on handlebars, racing stripe down the centre of the tank and solo racing style seat, the 750 Sport anticipated the emerging street performance trend and was the quintessential Cafè Racer of the period.
33 years later Ducati would revisit the iconic Sport with Pierre Terblanche’s Sport Classic range of reproduction bikes The Ducati Sport 1000 captures the bold Cafè Racer style and essential beauty of the 70's Sport, with features like the large round headlamp, chrome bar-end mirrors, Imola styling and of course, that beautiful colour scheme.
Typically Ducati, the Classic range was a decade too early and lacklustre sales consigned the entire range to the history bin. As is so often the case with ugly duc’s, the Sport range is now highly sought after and the most favoured is the genuine Monoposto, a model produced only in 2006/07.
This particular example is a locally delivered two owner that has been well cared for and well enjoyed. Owner’s books and full service history, the bike is currently NSW registered and is offered with a small selection of accessories. The advertised price reflects the kilometres but the service history and present condition leaves no question that this Sport presents as excellent value and is well below market asking prices.
