SOLD-2000 Bimota DB4

This spectacular Bimota DB4 was built to order by renowned Tuner Joe Tortura, of SuperMoto, USA. The build was commissioned by James Strong AO, who was at the time CEO & MD of the flying kangaroo (Qantas Airlines). Strong had seen, and fell in love with, the DB4 while a guest at the 2000 Laguna Seca Motogp.

As one could expect, this was a NO EXPENSE SPARED build, using a brand new DB4 it was to receive every conceivable upgrade imaginable. The engine was refitted with a Corse kit, 29ml Keihin flat-slides, Corse titanium exhaust, handmade incidentally by Shin Kondo of Moto Corse in Japan. The original fuel tank was removed and a special hand-made unit built to enable the flat-slides racing carbs. Carbon-Dream was commissioned to build a full carbon bodywork, one-off rear-sets and forged Marchesini gold 5 spoke wheels.

The current (2^nd) owner has continued with the upgrade with a carbon belly-pan, 4-pad Brembo callipers & radial master cylinder with stainless lines (as per Ducati 999S), and texalium clutch cover from RidingHouse in Japan. The original head-light was under-spec for genuine night riding so that was replaced with a dual beam projector type. The original single beam light and brand new spare screen (especially made to order) come with the sale.

This bike has been the feature of two write-ups in Performance Streetbike magazine; the second feature was in "The Best of Performance Streetbike – an article of the 20 hottest modified aussie streetbikes". Copy of the mag is included with the sale, as is the original 2000 sales brochures of the standard DB4.

This bike was last registered in Feb 2015, but is started every month and usually taken for a short ride. It received a full service in Feb 2013, including new belts, and done little k’s since.
