1986 Honda Z50 Monkey Chrome Special
The world’s best known and most easily recognised minibike is the Honda Z50 Monkey. Honda's official model designations are typically Z50A, Z50J, Z50M, Z50R, and ZB50, but to the world they are simply the "Monkey" or "Gorilla", and both named after comments relating to how people looked when seen riding Honda’s first model in 1967, the Z50M.
December 1986 Honda released the Chrome Special, often referred to as the Christmas Special, it si romured that only 3000 were built. In 2015, Abhi of Bike-urious, wrote, “Honda gave each of their top two US dealers a limited edition Z50 mini trails. It was called the Z50RDG – the D stood for Dealer, and I can’t figure out what the G signified.
In the US these Chrome Specials have sold for over 25kUSD, and in 2015 a brand new in the crate example was advertised for 89kUSD!!
