1978 Ducati 900 Supersport

The beautiful 1978 Ducati 900 Supersport has undergone a no expenses spared frame, engine, and transmission refurbishment. Wheels stripped, rims hand prepped to remove all scratches or imperfections incurred over their 36 years of service. The original spokes were electronically stripped and re-plated (rather than using stainless spokes), and of course new wheel bearings and new tyres.

The frame was hand-sanded (rather than sandblasting) & repainted in period correct match to Sviloid Metallizatto Smalto Alla Alluminio, the original factory colour. During assembly items replaced included, swing-arm bushes, main wiring loom, steering bearings, carby’s were ultrasonically cleaned then vapour-blasted, before receiving new needle & seats and full overhaul kits. All original fasteners, brackets, metal levers etc were electronically stripped and re-plated, all chrome items were stripped and re-chromed, and all painted brackets hand-sanded and repainted in two-pack matt &/or gloss as per original specification.

Bodywork paint was faithfully recreated using fine-line air-brushing of pin-striping, a new MRA windscreen, and all rubber bodywork edging new. A new battery is fitted, and all frame rubbers replaced with new reproduction items from Bevel Rubber. The seat is original and therefore shows signs of age with minor wear; option exists to have this recovered if preferred.

The engine was rebuilt by the Australian Godfather of Bevel Ducati, Ian Gowanloch; it starts effortlessly, sounds and runs beautifully.  A spectacular example of the era, and a sound investment.
