From 1887 to the mid-1950s, Allan Herschell was the era’s equivalent of Walt Disney. Herschell was a major employer in Tonawanda, a small city in Erie County, New York. For children growing up in post WW II era, the Allan Herschell play-lands were a place of wonder, where blocks of wood magically transformed into leaping and prancing ponies and aluminium could be shaped into horses, boats, starships, and helicopters.
The particular Herschell creation is a Fire Truck from a Herschell Coney Island ride, and one of the rides that were forerunner to roller-coaster. Located in Santa Barbra, California, the advertised price excludes shipping.
